A Denver native, Christian Lampkin has enjoyed a varied career at a very young age. While in secondary school, Chris attended the Jennifer Brooks Music Studio in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. There he studied flute and piccolo privately with Jennifer Brooks, the former 3rd Flute/Piccolo player in the UAE Philharmonic Orchestra. Chris also served as Principal Flute/Piccolo in the Abu Dhabi Youth Symphonic Wind Orchestra, 2nd Flute/Piccolo of the Abu Dhabi Choral Group Pit Orchestra, and in his Senior Year was selected by recorded audition on Piccolo and Flute 1 for the Association for Music in International Schools (AMIS) International Honor Band and Choir Festival where he travelled to The Hague, The Netherlands to perform under the direction of Dr. Jerry Lukhardt (University of Minnesota). In 2011, Chris was awarded the International John Phillip Sousa award for his copious musical achievements in the UAE. During his time in Colorado, Chris attended the Colorado Rocky Mountain Summer Music Camp at Colorado State University where he served as Piccolo/3rd Flute in the Honor Orchestra, and a frequent member of the Honor Band. Chris also served as the former Co-Principal of the Metropolitan State Symphony Orchestra – Denver, under the direction of Dr. Stephen Mathews. He has also been a frequent member of the Symphonic Band at the University of Northern Colorado under the direction of Dr. Richard Mayne. He has performed in master classes for Nancy Andrew (Metropolitan State University –Denver), Alice K. Dade (University of Missouri), Michelle Stanley (Colorado State University), and Krista Jobson (University of Texas – Pan American). Chris is currently pursuing two Bachelors degrees in Music Education and Flute Performance under the tutelage of Dr. James W. Hall at the University of Northern Colorado.
