Michael Turner is a senior at the University of West Georgia, where he is a double major in saxophone performance and music education. He is a student of John Bleuel. He has participated in the Siskiyou Saxophone Workshop in Ashland, OR, the University of West Georgia Saxophone Symposium, The Eastman School of Music Saxophone Symposium, and was a winner of the University of West Georgia Concerto Competition. Michael plays soprano saxophone in the UWG Saxophone Ensemble and alto saxophone in the UWG Saxophone Quartet and the adult community band Tara Winds. He has performed on master classes with the Globe Quartet and the 2010 Biannual NASA Meeting with Dr. Helton. Michael has also performed a solo at the Region 6 NASA conference in 2011 and several solo recitals at the University of West Georgia. He plans to pursue a master’s degree in saxophone performance and conducting after graduating from the University of West Georgia.
