Praised by critics and listeners alike for his "warm and luminous sound" (Chicago Music Report), Daniel Kaler is recognized by many as the rising star of his generation. Daniel studied privately under Susan Bloom of Indiana University, Hans Jørgen Jensen of the Northwestern University Bienen School of Music, and Stephen Balderston of the DePaul University School of Music. Following his early graduation from New Trier High School in 2015, Daniel began his studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Professor Mark Kosower, Principal Cellist of The Cleveland Orchestra. Daniel Kaler has many prestigious national awards to his credit. His solo engagements with orchestras for 2016-17 include performances in February of the Brahms Double Concerto in collaboration with violinist Ilya Kaler and the Highland Park Strings as well as the Rockford Symphony Orchestra. In recent years, Daniel appeared as a soloist with the Midwest Young Artists Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Allan Dennis; the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Grant Cooper; the University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Daniel Black; the Northport Symphony Orchestra in Northport, Florida under the direction of Sasha von Dassow; the Oistrakh Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Mina Zikri; and with the Music Institute of Chicago Academy Orchestra in Ravinia, IL under the direction of James Setapen, presenting works, respectively, by Dvorák, Saint-Saëns, Elgar, Popper, Fauré, Kabalevsky, and Tchaikovsky. Kaler also gave performances at recital and chamber music programs such as the Heifetz International Music Institute, DePaul University School of Music Faculty Recital series, Bowdoin International Music Festival, Player’s Theatre of Sarasota, Stars of Tomorrow, North Shore Chamber Music Festival, Music In The Loft, Young Steinway Concert Series, Chicago Cultural Center, Harris Theatre, and Millennium Park.
